I've lived in Santa Barbara (not too far from LA...) off and on for long time, and have seen lot's of different animals (rabbits, bears, snakes, bob cats...) when hiking in the mountains.

But my favorite are rattle snakes. They are thing of beauty. Scare the crap out of me, but love to watch them.

Up here in Washington, i mainly see coyotes and deer. Lot's of deer. Deer meat is ok. I don't own a gun and have never hunted so it would be a new experience for me.
