So you have concluded that the ends - Iraqi democracy - do not justify the means - eliminating Ba'athists from office and declaring the start of Iraqi democracy now?

Well, that's your prerogative. I disagree. Obtaining democracy for the Iraqis, which above all means building institutions of government that are not run by thugs for thugs, as they were under Saddam, seems a pretty big end to me.
