I think we have to look deeper into what Luther was from a world view of change in the "freedom of the will" in our right to worship God without a priest so designated by the church to serve as a mediator and to forbid us access to God's Word. Luther translated the Bible into German so that all could read and understand.

I'm sure you fully understand the corruption that was present before Luther changed the face of religion. His whole character and was based on "Salvation is by faith alone."

God raises who he might to further his word. Even unto our government. That is why Christ said to obey the law of the land.
