I think one of the problems with "thread writers" is that they tend to try to put all fact patterns into some sort of conspiracy. Then they look around at their favorite targets and find or manufacture evidence that supports their general thesis of the world. We all want to be "right" and we all feel "wronged" at times.

I'm trying to get past that type of thing and look at human nature as an explanation without trying to see everything as an agenda by one group or another.

Clinton - I wouldn't defend his actions although I could see how someone holed up in a small room day after day might be tempted given his background and rise from poverty. One could do several socio-psych treatises on that. To me the real tragedy for the American people was spending $60 million on this investigation, which led to collateral damage via a standstill in government. One could argue that this led to all sorts of nasties perhaps even 9/11 but I stated I was trying to stay away from unprovable paranoid delusions. Bottom line, I blame the media rather than the right wing. Clinton gave them an opening foolishly and the media just sucked it up. The story wouldn't die so of course Repubs jumped on the bandwagon. The dems would and have done the same thing in similar situations. I suggest that if you took $60 million and investigated the Pope's life, you'd probably find some interesting tidbits.

So - I agree that the government should not have been held hostage because of Monica's BJ's. However, I can't blame it on one faction or another. I blame the media.

Again, as I've posted before, my criticism should be read in an environment that produces "the best in the world." By that, I mean that despite these shortcomings, it's still better than living in just about any other place, with the possible exception of a secluded island where you can run around without government interference.
