IDT's die size is about 50% of the current Intel MMX chip but will only about the same size of the soon to be shrunk Intel part. Intel is shrinking the P MMX to 0.25 micron by the 4th quarter. IDT/Centaur needs to get their asses in gear to get the C6 in production or the window will be missed.

The C6 is targeted toward socket 7 architecture and will face stiff challenges in the set-top box and other sealed box environments. The C6 has some advantage as being the lowest costs to mfr. socket 7 chip but once you go to the custom MBs used in sealed boxes you loose that advantage. The MediaGX has the audio and video controllers built into the design and will save on board space, power and costs of the other chips and added memory.

I own more IDTI stock than I do Cyrix and NSM at this time because I expect the rest of IDT's business to do well over the next several months. If the hype about the C6 proves to be more than wishful thinking, then I expect an even better ride.
