Something that seems very hard to get across to people is that we can not afford to be reactive.

There is very little we can do about it D... At least nothing that wouldn't strip our society of the openess and freedom that makes it so special in the global economy..

A biological attack can happen anywhere and you can't check every potential container, large or small.

But we can verify the identity of people, especially non-US citizens, living in our country. And we can take proactive action such as military raids and, if necessary, assassinations of key militants who are responsible for advocating this terrorism.

But best of all, we can create the conditions where moderate/modernist Arabs are pitted against the reactionary militants. After all, it's primarily their fight, since it's their very future they are seeking to determine.

I would much rather the US initiate a civil war amongst Arabs, rather than permitting the current trend to follow through to a "west vs east" confrontation which seems to be currently underway.
