I am very optimistic this particular day because I see some evidence of the "mass media" responding to some uncomfortable facts. That means, despite the best efforts of the power mongers, all has not been usurped. The system still works.

If only the attention of the mass media showed any more intelligence than a cattle stampede, I might be encouraged too. Unfortunnately, I know I can count on them to miss any big news while they fixate on trifles.
