Charlie, I have one of those WebTV devices and it works quite well, especially considering the costs. I didnt want to spend $3000+ for a checkbook/word processor/game machine, plus the continue expensive msft updates and software. For $300 I can surf the web to my heart's content. 90% of my use is surfing for stock information and this works quite well.

Of course it is only going to get better with msft money behind it and the competition heating up. For those of us who do not want to spend all our time playing/fixing/tweaking their computer the Webtv will be ideal and I see these devices selling quite well to us novices (I do have a computer/Window 95 at work). They will sell especially well if you have a reason to get on the net, such as looking up stock information. I believe everyone that own and play the stock market will get one of these devices over the next couple years or else they will be the last to know breaking market news. They will not sell well if you really dont have a reason to surf the net.

By the way I have a cordless keyboard. It is not heavy duty but works very well....we also have a printer now though I will probably wait for the second generation around X-mas. And believe me it is so much more fun sitting here in my easy chair, keyboard on my lap, surfing the net....
