I've read that they have a good flavor but they are full of bones and canning is the best way to cook them. Melts the bones.

They only eat plankton so sport fishermen won't be catching them unless they jump into the boat, which they do. The noise from a motor will cause them to jump and since they can get to be 100 pounds hitting one can cause serious injuries and damage.
