0.5% monthly PPI in June, and IIRC, the announcement on Friday also said PPI for last twelve months was 2.9%. That's inflation. As in, that-which-is-not-deflation.

That "core inflation was -0.1%" sounds much like "pro-forma earnings went up by 10%" to me. Just pick and choose the numbers that serve your ends - higher earnings for dot-coms, lower inflation for the Fed. Why on earth anyone would disregard the PPI inflation figure and want to look at "price index for expenditures excluding food and energy" is beyond me...
