Semitool's Wafer Surface Preparation System Installed for 130 nm Production and Development of 90nm and Beyond Wafer Level Packaging
KALISPELL, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 2003-- Semitool, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMTL - News), announced today that Motorola, Inc.'s (NYSE:MOT - News) Semiconductor Products Sector has purchased Semitool's most advanced single wafer surface preparation equipment, known as the Raider Clean System.
The system will be installed at Motorola's Dan Noble Center in Austin, TX.
Motorola anticipates using the system for cleaning applications for its 130nm semiconductor production as well as for process development for its 90nm and beyond cleaning processes. Motorola expects to install the system at its Dan Noble Center within the next 60 to 90 days.
"The Raider Clean System is a high-volume manufacturing platform used by semiconductor makers for cleaning, etching and stripping applications on 150mm, 200mm and 300mm silicon wafers. The fully automatic system can be configured with as many as ten processing chambers, making the Raider Clean the industry's most productive single wafer processor available today," said Ray Young, manager of the single-wafer surface preparation division at Semitool.
Designed to meet the industry's most advanced wet processing challenges, Semitool's Raider Clean System has already been adopted by several of the world's top semiconductor manufacturers for their latest fabs and R&D facilities.
