It appears that a sea change is coming here at SI and the threads we know and have enjoyed for so many years. Many will go on to different pastures, and I will be among them. I had been operating under an open ended membership here (a gift during the days when you could do such a thing) but SI's strong arm tactics will probably drive Dabum, Kollmnh, JimP and others (and me, too) off this little oasis. It will spring up some other place, I'm sure, but there are quite a few people who owe a chunk of change to some of the writers who will go, and that's too bad.
I wonder if SI has a clue as to what they're doing here. SI has always been about content, and the best people provided editorial content with no compensation. When they go (and go they will), will people be more or less likely to ante up for something less? It's all about content, after all.
Qui sait? It's been a nice long ride, but probably just as well that it ends around about now.
