Is there an advantage to buying a complete XP vs. the upgrade? Since you have a qualifying windows os already installed there is no advantage that I know of. Since you plan on a format/install the upgrade disk will wipe out everything and install the full version. If you were just going to upgrade the previous version of windows the upgrade disk wouldn't wipe out the installed programs, my documents, etc. Wiping the old version and installing fresh is always the best way to go if possible. versions that are sold online that claim to be full installation product but are OEM versions I'm not familiar with this. Do you have a link?
