They know better than to send Hindu troops into a Muslim buzzaw. This won't play with the voting Indian public. Just a hoot that the Bush team would even think this possible.
So, they will try to put the squeeze on India in one way or another, make them "pay" for not pitching in with the "if you ain't with us, your against us" line of bullshit...

More history ignored>

On 15 Feb, 1942, the British surrendered Singapore to the Japanese.
For the 36 hours before the Japanese army arrived there was looting, chaos, etc, just like we saw in Iraq.
No retribution = mob rules..

Now, when the Japanese army entered they shot and killed anyone caught looting.
Order was restored fast.
People were afraid of the them.
A few days later the main army pulled out to attack Java, leaving behind just a small force to maintain order.

So, while we try to win hearts & minds, the reality is to be feared rather than loved.

Which leads us to where we find ourselves,
in a no-win no-mans land.....
