CS First Boston "trashes" QCOM during "quiet period" (S.E.C. mandated "no comment" period for corporations right before earnings releases).

This "Official Quiet Period" idea is a myth. A company can comment on stuff in press releases anytime it wants. For example LU negatively pre-announced yesterday, one week ahead of its formal June announcement (i.e., there is no LU "SEC Mandated Quiet Period"). I recall QCOM last year released its quarterly results one day ahead of plan (i.e., there is no QCOM "Quiet Period").

There is no "Official SEC Mandated Quiet Period" - uhmmm, period!

Material information can be released in a widely available public forum (usually a press release) any day the company wants to release it.
