Don't Know

Greenjeans doesn't want you to have any so he has done much to make all the usual options fairly ugly.

If you are really talking about a lot I would think that spreading it over a few different banks and money market funds (funds which only invest in government securities) would be about the most attractive option. If you have a reasonable balance in any of these funds they should provide you with free daily ETF (at least for now.)

IB has gotten fairly large (in terms of the portion of the real time order flow that they handle) and I don't think that the risk is greater than better known online providers.

I keep enough in IB to cover my trading accounts, have the second tier at Rydex which is in MM, precious metals, and some Bear funds, and then have some banks and MM funds that I use for cash equivalents.

But my wife shops at COSTCO because I like having those large containers of food in my house.
