Do you think the entities referenced by the author are bound by their mission in life to eventually commit terrorism? No. Do you think we are bound by our "historical mission" to engage them violently? What "historical misson" are you speaking of? I don't know that the US is on a "historical mission." I think we have a right of self-defense, which may at times require violence, just as police occasionally have to use their weapons to keep the peace.
