Kerry fights back against lies being spread about him:

This I just got from Kerry's comms guy. Next will be proof he never waffled an inch on Iraq ever.

Response to today’s charges:
“These bogus RNC charges against John Kerry probably came from the same people who gave them their intelligence about Niger and yellowcake. I detect a distinct whiff of fear on this gang in the White House now that they see Democrats poised to nominate a real Commander In Chief like John Kerry to hold this Administration accountable for all the wrong they’ve done to our country.”

-- David Wade, Kerry spokesperson

RESPONSE: Truth About John Kerry’s Votes on Intelligence and the FBI
Poor Economy, Rising Deficit and Preparedness Gap Making Republicans Nervous

1. John Kerry did not vote to cut the FBI’s budget by $80 million. The 1995 vote was to reallocate funds to crime prevention programs that had been deeply slashed and redirected by Sen. Phil Gramm, then a Republican Presidential candidate, in committee. Gramm’s Committee sent a bill to the floor that contained $80 million more than requested by the FBI and the Administration, but in turn cut or eliminated a broad range of local anti-crime programs. The effort was part of Gramm’s primary campaign and also included cuts to the Violence Against Women Act and the COPS programs that were reinstated in other amendments. Raving liberals like Alan Simpson (R-WY) and Mike DeWine (R-OH) also voted for the amendment, which passed 49-41. [HR2076, 9/29/1995, #480]

“The bill also appeared caught in the friction between Majority Leader Bob Dole, R-Kan., and Phil Gramm, R-Texas, rivals for the GOP presidential nomination. The two men skirmished to take the lead on high profile issues in the bill, such as crime and affirmative action. Gramm chairs the subcommittee that wrote the bill, which reflects some of his conservative priorities. For instance, he included language from barring any agencies funded in the bill implementing affirmative action programs - although that was later dropped on the floor. Gramm also cut boldly into programs - crime prevention, legal aid to the poor, and U.N. peacekeeping, among others - of which he has been critical.” [Congressional Quarterly Weekly, 9/30/1995]

2. John Kerry voted FOR broad-based deficit reduction. In contrast to an Administration that has turned the largest surplus in history into a $455 billion deficit, John Kerry was willing to take the tough steps to reduce budget deficits. He voted for a broad-based deficit reduction bill that reduced more than 20 programs, including the National Fertilizer and Environmental Research Center, limited funds for acquisition of federal buildings, and blocked the cost of living raise that Congress was scheduled to receive. The entire package would have reduced the deficit by $43 billion over 5 years. Nearly 90 percent of the cuts did not affect intelligence programs, which were being reduced at the end of the cold war anyway. [1994 Senate Amendment 1452]

* Kerry is a guy who will back back fiercely against any false attacks. The Bushie lying machine is hard at work though trying to spread disinformation as usual. No problem. Just proves they're less and less credible.
