"The issue is what to do while watching crimes against humanity" Most of the killings by Saddam had stopped after he got rid of enemies after Gulf War 1. Meanwhile 3 million people were being hacked to death in Africa that we ignored. Going after Iraq had NOTHING to do with crimes against humanity. It had to do with satisfying the Christian Right who are strong Bush financial supporters. It had to do with getting rid of Israel's main enemy and financial supporter of the Palestinians. That's what the code words "bring peace to the region" meant when applied to Iraq. The Christian Right are waiting for their interpretation of the Bible prophecies which includes the Jews in Israel converting. The far right in Israel is able to direct this American fervor to their own ends; getting rid of their enemies and increasing hold on the territories.
