K5 plugs into a Pentium M/B, and x5 plugs into a 486 M/B.

"Jim: I saw some benchmark tests on the AMD k5 and x5 chips
that beat the P90 and P100 so if they plug into the 486
boards then it stands to reason a lot of people might want
to upgrade, especially considering the price."
