"You need to fight fire with fire."

If you fight fire with fire, you risk becoming like the very thing you are fighting. (imo) I understand how you feel, really I do. I felt that way for quite a while- in fact I still "feel" that way at times, I just can't rationally "think" that way. I certainly can't tell you that you are wrong- I can only say that I no longer accept that POV.

Dang
I have the feeling I have not expressed this clearly. It's not about "them", the other people with whom you are trying to get even, it's about you, and how generous you are willing to be to America, and the idea of what it means to be an American. I am prepared to see the KKK and the Black Panthers as all part of America; I am prepared to see Mr. Savage and Harvey Milk both, as being Americans with a vision of America. That does NOT mean I am not judgmental about the visions these people have. I hate the vision of Mr. Savage- but not because he is UnAmerican, but rather because he imagines an America I do not like. The UnAmerican epithet is not intrinsic to judgment- in fact, it may even hurt the case to be made (imo)- because it is a distraction, and is a fallacy- an appeal to emotion. Although it is really hard to avoid all the fallacies :-)
