I know that the Kennedys liked McCarthy well enough, to support him (and let him date JFK's sister). I know that Robert Kennedy had McCarthy become his daughter's god father. Maybe, McCarthy was a very bad and nasty man. Do you think the Kennedys, just were not very good judges of a man's character? First and foremost, I don't care with whom McCarthy was friends. Everything I have ever read about the man suggests he was ruthless, conniving and back stabbing to a fault. In addition, I particularly don't like the conservatives's penchant for calling their fellow Americans communists, spies, unpatriotic, etc without due process. And I particularly don't like when someone like McCarthy uses the media to crucify his victims. As for the Kennedys, don't assume that I am partisan and that my likes are monolithic.
