Gottfried, today's negative reversal was very irrational. If Intel's results were to be considered good, they should have helped other chip makers. But the premiere companies all were sold.

If Intel's results were considered bad, then how come Intel went up 5% ?

Similar argument with Seagate, which reported 33c for th Q, and the other disk makers dropped. Seagate went up 5% also.

So how to explain ? The main source of irrationality these days is shorters. Would any rational investor in Altera or Xilinx find a reason to sell in Intel's report ? Of course not.

My conclusion is that shorters are playing their last card trying to spook weak hands. But there doesn't seem to be many left.

If the labor stats are good tomorrow, we'll blow right through nasdaq 1800. All the resistance has been exhausted already.
