Oh man, that takes me back

When I was at Berkeley the first year there was all this anticipation about the PC jr. It hadn't come out yet, it was codenamed "peanut". Some friends of mine had jobs at Apple during the summer of 84, and I hoped to get a summer job there in 85 as a freshman. But it all hinged on the peanut, which was perceived as death to silicon valley! LOL Then, the peanut came out and it was a dog. The keyboard was too small. Thats what my dorm thought anyway. Oh joy that meant employment as far as I was concerned.

The sad part was when 85 did roll around we had started the post-PC bubble blowoff period and it was downright impossible to get a tech job as a summer hire. Things didn't improve until later in the 80s. Andy Bryant has talked about the 80s recession as more severe than this one.... seems like cisco this time around is living the intel history.
