John,
OT--Not too sure about the meaning of the various 'status symbols' classifying we SI members. At first I thought mine, "vfo" could be somehow related to the French ranking system for cognacs, VSOP, etc., after all I used to enjoy the stuff....and turned 60 in January. Then I figured that it was probably an acronym for something. First one to enter my age-enfeebled, working class mind was "Very [insert appropriate adjective] old."
All I know for sure is that I signed up when the site was pretty young, the price was cheaper, and you got a tee shirt as a comp.
And that I still think it's the best place for information, education, and general good-natured reflection on matters of investing and interesting side chatter on the Web. This thread and it's predecessor in particular. Enough people here have posted graciously their views and opinions, shared their joys and sorrows, for long enough that I feel I somehow know and trust them.* This despite differing political views, varying investment styles and financial standings.
The board and it's make-up and goals have evolved over the years, but our population has remained a civil and friendly group which I read almost every day.
Geez! What a rant! And all over three lower case letters.
Yours in lurk,
Lee
