I would want to see a contract between the parents and the kids. Promising to "love honor and obey" doesn't speak to the issue of kids. I would like to see something that people sign, take an oath on, or otherwise formally commit to prior to the production of offspring to focus the prospective parents on the commitment they should be making. Libertarian that I am, I would stop short, sigh, reluctantly, of making people get a license to reproduce. <g> My approach is more focused on the planning of the children and the understanding of what sacrifices that requires so that people will be more thoughtful and proactive about it rather than on what, exactly, they are committing to.
