The dark night of fascism is not descending. There was great outrage expressed toward the conduct of the clinton administration. The administration was disengenuous and deceitful. When the stuff hit the fan, it engaged in cover up. The last time that I remember this happening (Nixon administration), the social upheaval was cataclismic and comprehensive in all sectors of our society.

I had a similar expectation during the clinton administration. Clinton's conduct and the position of his administration was incompatible with the advocacy movements that had been engineered for decades to accomplish such a viable position in government affairs. It was an opportunity to demonstrate the integrity of democratic party principles. It didn't happen.

The wind has gone from the Democratic party's sails simply because they allowed their principles to be sacrificed for their favorite son. Fresh movement may gradually make the scene but not likely under the Democratic Party's current organization. Its constipated with a bunch of obsolete fogeys and fogetts who are still beating the drum for decades old issues.

The government is not autocratic and doesn't give venue to fascism. Even if we ended up with one political party, divisions in points of view would surface that would give rise to healthy debate and decision making.

It may be a while though, since most of the current noise from the left is flailing rediculousness.
