Yep, LBJ - our previous 'Texas President', dramatically expanded BOTH social AND military spending (& thus the size of the government bureaucracy) without putting the spending on a firm footing. Actions ignited the later inflation of the '70s. Engaged in an 'endless war' not much in America's interest. Nixon - failed and idiotic economic policy (broke the gold link for the dollar, wage/price freeze... So he was an enabler of the inflation of the '70s.) Continued wasting American lives and resources in the 'endless war' of his time. Lied directly to the American public on numerous occasions (including, in one memorable TV address, about the entire war in Cambodia - which he denied.) Took secrecy and paranoia to new heights in the WH. LBJ + Nixon = Bush II
