| Well, it seems to me, then, that you have no way of knowing what these absolute moral principles other than your interpretation, which is circumstantial. Maybe absolute principles, like God, exist, but we have no way to know. That justice is good seems pretty obvious to me from both a pragmatic and a self-defense perspective, but I don't see how we can avoid a contextual perspective on that. On Mars, how knows? I think it's arguable whether charity is good or not right here on Earth. I subscribe to it, personally, particularly the form of it that is generosity of spirit, but I think that's probably a personal preference on my part. |
