think you are exactly right here Nadine. I believe that he was been fed this BS from his inner sanctum who are the ones that are really running the show! (Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Cheney et al.)
However, that being said.....he is the one that has ultimate responsibility. That's what he signed on for.

I think that this one document was forged but most of the intelligence was correct. Before you cry, "but where are the WMDs?," let me remind you that EVERYBODY believed that Saddam was hiding WMDs, Britain, France, Italy, Israel, etce, etc, for excellent reasons, and frankly, I still believe it. It is just out of character for him to give the stuff up. Somewhere in those bunkers, he's got the chemicals.
But if, as it now seems, he was always planning to take the bunkers and wage a guerilla war from the Sunni triangle, chemical weapons would be of limited use. But who really knows? |
