Hello Blaine,

Java is a topic that is well known at Novell these days. Eric has made sure of that! ;-)

We already have a JVM that can be downloaded to run on the NetWare server. (http://developer.novell.com/java) This allows the execution of Java code on the NetWare server platform. This capability will continue to be enhanced to provide support for Java applications, utilities, and other tools. There will also be the capability to support Java objects which could provide server methods for various operations via RMI or CORBA.

The GroupWise group is continuing to enhance the Web Access version of GroupWise which is a fully web-based e-mail application allowing full mail access using a combination of HTML and Java applications. This means your mail-box, accessible from *any* browser, from anywhere.

Another product coming out soon is our Houston console. This is a Java application which combines the functionality of NWAdmin (The NetWare NDS administration tool) with functionality of ManageWise network/systems management, all in an extensible Java architecture. This means managing your network from anywhere you have a JVM (*any* operating system platform that supports Java) and a network connection.

Java is moving forward quickly within Novell!
