I think the majority of them are glad Saddam is gone, but as of yet, many of them still don't seem to want to fight for their freedom.

Fighting for freedom always got one killed before in Iraq, and besides their a lot more free already then were before. Also the Baathists mainly operate in the area between Baghdad and Tirkrit where they actually have some support. If they tried to operate in the South or even more in the Kurdish areas they would probably face local opposition but the Shiites and Kurds aren't willing to hunt them down across the desert.

Fighting for one's freedom always got people killed. That's my point.....you have to want it bad enough.

But we don't really need Iraqis to hunt down the Baathistts, we just need intel on the Bathist and Iraqis to do policing work and some local security. We need the Iraqis to help us find the Baath party militia and operatives more then we need them to go out and fight right now.

We need intel and we need Iraqis who stand up and defend the American presence. Insurgents are shooting at our troops while they are off duty and standing in lines getting a drink or walking on the street. Do the Iraqis try to stop the gunmen? No! Do they help the soldier that's been shot? No!

I understand fear but is it fear or cowardice or just plain indifference that we are witnessing?
