Sports stadiums get subsidized on the back of the taxpayer. One useful example of subsidies are the BMW palnt in South Carolina and the Mercedes plant in Alabama. Both have lead to synergies and more support industry locating in the area, and in improving labor training. Success stories like this tend to be rare.
