Davis will never let any Republican replace him.
He would resign rather than allow it to happen.
Bustamante doesn't need "support". He is Lt Governor and automatically becomes Gov if Davis resigns. Or else Davis and Feinstein make a deal to essentially switch jobs.
Feinstein could beat any Republican.

PS - You dont want Arnold. The guy has zero experience and this is a very-very tough job right now. Riordan is the only capable Republican.
