The whole world WAS with us until we adopted a policy that was 100% certain to be unsupportable by our allies -- regime change. From that point on, we have been alone, except for Blair who was very concerned about the consequences of having the US out there completely alone with the shaky set of international institutions built after the second world war left in ruins by the United States. The hatred, confusion and disarray did not happen by accident or as a result of flaws in human nature or because of people being critical: It was a matter of US policy that turned the world against us.
