Jim, this particular "Rising Sun" was about China and was more a series of interviews of people who took part in Mao's madness. Now, they look back and realize how wrong they were. Laughably wrong. It was a retrospective of the revolution and up to the end of Mao's era.

As for the rest of your comments. Yes.

It sure is a turbulent mess being dealt with post Y2K bubble. And post Nikkei 39,000 implosion. And including Islamic Jihad. Not to mention a world record debt level measured in the multitrillions.

But I think it's all okay - just the usual bumps and grinds as we bumble our way to nirvana. Even an Islamic Jihad nuke would only affect a small area. With cyberspace, people wouldn't even lose a lot of data which is seriously important - it's backed up all over the place. Probably in some web farm in some obscure place where rents are cheap but fibre is fast.
