WHAT PROSPERITY? Oy Vey! There is no prosperity in Israel. Haven't you read the news? Israel is in a recession,

No Duh Sherlock... And they aren't alone given the post-9/11 economic morass. But it's the first time since 1948 (the US only started providing major Foreign Aid after 1971-73).

us-israel.org

It was the first time since the creation of Israel in 1948 that GDP had fallen for two straight years and the fact that the recession hit after a decade of unprecedented boom culminating in 7.4 per cent growth in 2000 only added to the economic gloom.

And it doesn't help that Israel has been subjected to 2 years of terrorist attacks that have effectively made people too scared to enjoy their free time.

And guess what.. The Palestinians will be MORE dependent, as a percentage of their total GDP, upon US assistance than the Israelis. Dependent upon the US just as they are currently dependent upon Israel.

Which means the US has indirectly been subsidizing the Palestinian economy as well since 1967... :0)

Kind of ironic, isn't it?

What's wrong with this picture?

We should give more money to non-accountable and corrupt non-democratic countries than we do to democratic societies which have been under seige by their neighboring dictatorships for the past 50 years?
