sylvester80,re:"Bush..". Trying to give credit to all these 'Elites' (though I don't think they should rip the wealth of the country to themselves), they somehow 'earned' their way to the 'elites status'. So I pretend to have enough intelligent to ask following question:
"Why/what is Bush after for this war effort?"
A1. fight terrorism... a good start, valid and the most acceptable one. A2. Rid of Saddam's bad behaviors. There got to be a better way (or cheaper way) to do this. With the sanction/inspection, I doubt Iraq is much of a threat. A3. Middle east peace initiative (operation). Well, if anyone can do it, it's us (USA). Israel has been struggling to survive for many years. I can see Bush being pursuaded into this mess. A4. then there is this "these guys try to kill my Dad" thing ... then the daughters' story ... and young Bush does not need anythhing to justify the war. A5. Oil. I hate to take this for answer. In this age and a fairly open/democratic society as USA and we have a war for 'money/asset/oil' is mind boggling. We are not that hungry/greedy, are we? With ENRON/WallStreet as indicators, this could be a legitimate answer. For the 'elites/heroes/generals/...', soldiers' lives are one of the chips they carry. Of course they don't want to see any soldier die, but this is war and casaulty is as certain as tax. If there is any consolation, they chose to fight for the country, for right or wrong reason that they don't have any control. |
