Ted,

re: if what you say is true, and it could well be, the only way they will get away with it is to break a lot of laws. Its the thing about which I have worried and I would not put that pass them. After all, they also believe they are doing God's work.

What laws? US history is filled with chief executives taking the expedient course, and justifying it any way they can. Bush is no different, he just has history's greatest, most emotional excuse, 9/11.

It's a lot to ask, but the citizens of this country need to put 9/11 in perspective, and realize it hasn't been and will never be a frequent experience. A one time, phenomenally successful terrorist act (from the terrorist perspective, a Super Bowl win, they terrorized the hell out of us). It's a great political excuse for virtually any political action; they can spin it, and the public will buy it.

More "people" have died in Iraq and Afghanistan than died on 9/11. And Bush is just getting started. The folks that believe that, because you've got the power, you have to use it, are in control. And they have the excuse. They are international political evangelists. They do not reflect the American tradition of tolerance and charity.

"Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws."
