The term 'thugs' is more advisable here than others i've heard applied to Reagan et al, because the Terms of Use prohibit certain typing considered obscene or profane ..... such a pity that there aren't Terms of Use limitations on US presidentes, eh, then maybe they wouldn't be hiring argentino torturers to brutalise villagers minding their own g.d. business, while affectionately calling these murdering raping thugs 'my boys'

If you would like to attempt to disassociate Reagan from thuggery, try convincing the widows he made, the mothers who had their kids blown apart wholly or in sections from Reagan's land mines .... with some others you will certainly have greater difficulty, as your bud Ronnie had his 'boys' do some unspeakable things to their women

The sooner you come to terms with the fact you are and have always been faced with a thug element in US politics, the more hope we have as a species

... but with this you caught me in the middle of a thing on de-ba'athification .... there was not a great deal of sense in firing all the police of Iraq, i think maybe, because you need somebody to keep some semblance of order, in the transition period in which you are attempting to impose your own ... also, it gives those proficient unemployed all day long to decide what to do, and to whom they might do it .... this quandary arose in the denazification process, of course .... here is a piece on it in Linz Osterreich -

'A comprehensive implementation of the
denazification laws failed on several accounts.
About a
quarter of the total population
would have been affected by the denazification
laws and the “expiation procedures” (including
close family members). Another fact was that
the intellectual elite in Austria had largely
become National Socialist Party members. The
Austrian politicians were only concerned that
“educational measures” be applied for a limited
period because there were
other urgent
priorities
to be dealt with instead of a total and
comprehensive denazification. These priorities
were:

* it was thought that by negating
co-responsibility of the Nazi crimes,
Austria would obtain a separate State
Treaty
* the concern about acceptance of the
very young democracy in Austria
amongst the population, if a large part of
the population were denied basic rights,
such as free choice of a profession and
the right of voting at an election
* the problem of restoring the economy
