Lots of atrocities committed when we were buds of Saddam- or right after Desert Storm- when we hung some Iraqis out to dry (now I don't know all the details of that decision, I'd have to go look up everything about it again, and I just don't have the time. I don't think I had a strong position either way on that- since I could see benefits to both POV's).

I'm still looking for good hard numbers for the last 10 years- directly attributable to Saddam executions (no fair counting sanctions- since those were us- and according to Albright we were prepared to pay that cost (I'm sure the Iraqis loved that line).

edit- and since I think verification is an important part of communication- here's the Albright quote in all its glory:

"It's a hard decision, but we think the price ... is worth it." -- US Secretary Of State Madeline Albright talking about Iraqi children starving and dying as a result of the US embargo of food and medicine -
