It's such a "huge part of it" that we wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the oil, period. So... it's about the oil.

re: To the extent it is about oil its mostly about Kuwaiti and Saudi oil. Iraqi oil is relevant in that it can pay for Iraq's reconstruction but beyond that it isn't really a major factor.

Assuming present demand growth rates, the only cheap way to supply demand in somewhere around 5 to 10, maybe 15 years is with Iraqi oil reserves. Most of the Middle East is tapped out as far as new fields, they are close to their production capacity.

But Bush and Chaney are are being altruistic in Iraq, spending $4B a month freeing the oppressed people. What are a couple of old oil homeboys gonna do?
