Again, my recommendation is that you tell her less than you will actually be willing to give her.....That way, you will be a hero...not the other way around.
My analogy is giving the Grandkids $50 for their 10th birthday....The hook is I get to go with them, they have to visit at least 3 stores or places to choose, and I pay for lunch or dinner in addition....I get to be with them, and am not an old meanie because I wouldn't spring for a $70 T-Shirt from Nike or Michael Jordan airshoes, etc.... This way we are both happy!!!
We also told our daughter that she/they could choose...the money for something of value they wanted, or the same amount on a wedding...
They chose the wedding. So that's how we put curbs on it...
Once you do, you'll then have fun, and let her be in charge....(to help her, I asked her what she wanted me to do, and she usually had me get info on at least 3 places as far as cakes, flowers, band, etc.....It worked pretty slick...most of the time, we still talked....) <g> |
