I think we might find some interesting common ground here. The problem we will have, John, is that the Teachers will be happy to take the money, but the Union will not let them be forced into merit promotions or a situation that would make it easier to fire them. I am still a "Union Buster" on this point. One thing that looks in my favor, long term, is a report last week from the Labor Department of the continued decrease in Union membership. Down to 13.2% from 13.5% last year. Speaking of Unions, I hope you are watching "The Wire" on HBO. Cris Bauer, who plays the Union Leader at the Docks, is outstanding. He takes money from Mobsters to keep the Union going, but not for himself. Just a great series. Best HBO has done, IMO.
