Americans are raised on the "We're Number 1!" rah-rah diet from birth; anyone who doesn't fall into place and cheer too becomes a threat.

Think of it as a massive insecurity complex which manifests itself in the ranting and raving on talk radio and many SI threads.

That pretty much sums it up.

One of the funniest posts I ever saw came early in the Iraq thing when I posted something less than enthusiastic somewhere. The next poster said I WONDER WHERE HIS LOYALTIES LIE? and the next guy checked my profile and proclaimed HE'S LOYAL TO THE NETHERLANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!
