I think it's a byproduct of the American temper tantrum over Iraq, the rest of the world is taking a step back and focusing on their own regional development trends instead of gazing in awe at the mighty US (ironically the exact opposite effect that the PNAC bunch intended but that's another story). Lots of interesting niches and nooks and crannies around the world. We have overlooked many of them for too long. It's nice to see the main American media taking a second look without the tunnel vision that the Fox News America-firsters impose.
