Hello Alexa, and All Here is the link and news item from yesterday's Intel and SAP AG announcement.
To answer your question Alexa, If anything, I would think that the Commerce Net will increase the need for better security and firewalls which will probably be offered by outside vendors. Separately however, I believe Intel is working with Phoenix Tech for integrating additional security features on their chips. Regards, Jules

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuter) - Chipmaker Intel Corp. and German business software titan SAP AG have formed a joint venture to sell the hardware and software that businesses need to set up shop on the Internet, the companies said Tuesday. The venture will help customers chase after the $200 billion in transactions expected to be conducted through the global computer network. Intel, which is looking for more venues to sell its computer chips, will provide the servers. SAP will supply the computer programs that track inventory, order entry and accounts payable. Terms of ownership of the joint venture were not immediately available. The companies said they both will contribute staff and technical resources to the venture. An Intel executive will serve as the chairman and an SAP executive as president and chief executive. At a demonstration in San Francisco, the companies previewed a combination of hardware and software that will let customers order products through the Web, let a merchant track inventory levels, place orders from a supplier and let a merchant's accountants keep track of financial records. |
