Ah well, let's give you a break then :-)
Summer is great here on the French Riviera as well. It is a bit too hot, but the cooler days should be here pretty soon.
I watched Massive Attack in open-air concert last night in Cannes. It was brilliant. Their music is this great mix of electronic and poignant soul/blues, sometimes getting into rock, sometimes into dance music.
Oh and let's tie it to the topic of the thread as well:
In the background screen, they had this projection of computer generated visuals. At one point, it kept posting questions and answers (in French) about the war in Iraq. Stuff like "How many missiles used?" "xxxx thousand", "How many civilians killed?" "xxxxx", etc. The last one was "How many WMDs found?" "Zero". The crowd was roaring by then.
At the end, Tricky said "Thank you, France, for doing what we [British] could not - standing up to this war". Much cheering etc followed.
There were three American girls standing next to us (I was talking in French with my friend the whole time, so they probably didn't think we would understand English). By the end of all this, they were getting really concerned. It looked like they were preparing to bolt to the gates, in case the crowd decided to crucify Americans or something. Of course, nobody even looked at them...
I will be watching Robert Plant, Ritchie Havens, and some others in Nice Jazz Festival this weekend... Looking forward to seeing Robert Plant on stage :-) |
