Junior likes to measure something he calls Greenhouse Gas Intensity, which is some kind of ratio of carbon to economic activity. Of course carbon and dollars are not closely related at all. What he does not want to report is the steadily increasing actual amount of greenhouse gasses released in the United States. Of course the radio reports these like they are relevant numbers.

2001
<font color=brown>The new figures, compiled by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, show that the United States released 1,558 million metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in 2000, up 41 million tons from 1999. It was the biggest U.S. increase in years.

Since then there has been a reduction in the rate of increase in the U.S., mostly because of the greatly reduced economic activity which is the hallmark of a Bush administration. Even though the rate is slower, the greenhouse gasses are still growing.
