Well, one old thought is that the personal interests of people actually differ and that all those
interests should be, at a minimum, represented.

However, if there is only two possible winners to bet on in a winner-takes-all
system, the result tends to deep frustration.

That is, one of major issues on why UK decided to get rid of their two-party systems,
under the threath of Scotalnd, North ireland as well as Wales getting rid of London City.

However, that issue got less emotional after the consenus became that sooner or later
they all would be parts of both EU and EMU, just a matter of waiting for London City
sorting it out.

That is, not a "perpetual and unrelenting negativism" but a perpetual and unrelenting positivism.

Another issue is obviously will the US population understand why the same is much
more difficult in USA and what kind of incremental changes might be possible.

One temporary solution might be similar to how UK had to make a decision, to (once again) ban
any public debate on these issues.
